Equine assisted learning is a way of helping individuals achieve their goals through interaction with horses and animals.
The Centre specialises in working with children, young people and adults with social, emotional and learning difficulties.
Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each individual and can be arranged on days and at times to suit you. Courses run during term-time.
Sessions need to be booked in advance and can be organised on a one-to-one or small group basis. We will help you to plan the length and number of sessions. We understand that everyone is different, and we will do everything we can to accommodate your requirements.
There are lots of activities involving the horses, from approaching one in a field to grooming and leading. You are also be able to take part in painting, collage, 3D modelling or preparing food for yourself or the horses or animals!
We liaise with schools, teachers and health professionals as necessary and provide written reports for you should you need them.
If you wish, you can work towards a nationally recognised qualification such as the Award in Work Preparation for Land-based Industries or the Character Development qualifications. These are awarded by OCN London awards, a UK Awarding body, through our accreditation with EAQ.
EAQ is an organisation which sets high standards for facilitators and aims to ensure that equine assisted learning is available to anyone. EAQ has achieved external standards of excellence including the Investors in People Award and has gained accreditation with apt awards to offer nationally recognised qualifications.
Approved centres meet the standards required by these external organisations and have:
EAQ monitors the work of the centres, offering advice and guidance for staff. Staff work to the EAQ Code of Conduct and are expected to take part in ongoing professional training and supervision.
